FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Why have the base registration fees increased for the 2008/09 season?

A: Fees have been adjusted in order to accommodate our new "Player Development Initiative". Details will follow in a website update. In the meantime, please direct any inquiries to Tony Traversa.

Q: What is the GGHA FUNdamentals program?

A: It is an introductory hockey program for players born 2000 and younger with an emphasis on skill development and fun, and not on competition. It is based on Hockey Canada's Initiation Program, and all coaches follow standard practice plans from the CHIP Skill Development Manual. The season is roughly as follows:

  • Weeks 1-4 - two skill development sessions per week
  • Weeks 5-9 - one skill development session + one half ice pond hockey game per week
  • Remainder of season - one skill development session + one full-ice game per week, but standings are not kept and there are no playoffs or championships
  • Season ends with a Fun Fest

If you have any questions, please contact the GGHA Registrar.
