LLFHL BRONZE MEDAL WINNERS
Congratulations to 2014/15 Guelph Hyundai Jr Gryphons Midget A team taking the Bronze Medal at this past weekends LLFHL Finals in Oshawa. The Gryphs had tough start losing their opening game 4-1 to the Stoney Creek Sabres. They re-grouped to take on Clarington in their second game of the day. After leading 1-0 in the third period the Gryphs gave up 2 late goals as Clarington grabbed the lead threatening to hand the Gryphs their second loss. With the goalie pulled for an extra attacker Guelph scored with 27 seconds left to play to tie the game and show they had some fight left in them. Guelph took on top ranked Clearview in game 3 and in one of their best efforts of the year beat the Ice Cats 2-0. In game 4 the Gryphs faced a stubborn Oakville team and dealt them a 1-0 loss eliminating Oakville from the tournament and earning themselves a spot in the Bronze medal game. Meeting Clarington again Guelph battled a penalty filled game to a 2-2 tie at the end of regulation. A thrilling 10 minute sudden death overtime with chances at both ends solved nothing. The teams headed for shootout. In heart stopping fashion the Gryphons won the shootout going 7 players deep to capture the Bronze medal.
