If
your daughter was born in 2011 or 2012 (U11) and is interested in
playing more competitive hockey, then they may be interested in being considered
for the U11A team.
The U11A Competitive team will have a structured season following Hockey Canada's U11 Pathway, including a minimum of four development sessions, followed by at least 3 tryout/ evaluations before the team is selected. Per the Pathway, these sessions cannot start until after Labour Day. We expect the first session(s) to be sometime during the weekend of Sept. 10-12.
The season will focus on skill development, with more ice time than for the U11 local league teams, including regular participation in on-ice development training at the University of Guelph. We anticipate the U11A team playing against other more competitive U9 teams, with the season starting later in October. Details about league play will be provided to the GGHA (and other associations) by the OWHA in the coming weeks.
If your daughter is interested in being considered for the U11A team then familiarize yourself with the U11 Pathway document, and register her for U11A tryouts when registration opens later this week (keep checking the website for details or subscribe for updates).
