Below are the current plans for rep team selections. Keep checking
the GGHA website for updates (subscribe to updates via text or email on the
homepage). The GGHA will continue to revisit the dates, times and overall
plan based on changes from Hockey Canada, OWHA & WDGPH. Our
return to the ice will be dependent on ice availability from the City and the University.
Players interested in playing U13, U15 or U18 rep hockey in the 2021-22 season are strongly encouraged to contact the appropriate coach (listed on the GGHA website).
For U13, U15 & U18 rep teams, coaches will begin team planning based upon their knowledge of current players who have indicated their interested in competing for a position. Teams will be finalized in the fall based upon OWHA directives and ice availability.
U9 and U11 - Will follow the Hockey Canada mandated pathway. A minimum of 4 skills sessions starting after Labour Day (after September 6), followed[s1] by a minimum of 3 formal evaluation sessions (e.g., one skills session, one small-area games session, and one formal game).
Expectations are that athletes competing for a position on a rep team will work on basic fitness and hockey skills on their own and prior to returning to the ice. Players are encouraged to participate in summer sports and stay active to minimize the risk of injury when returning to the ice after a long hiatus.
We understand this season has been difficult and challenging for everyone. Providing a fun, competitive and challenging sport experience is our goal.
We look forward to seeing you at the rink soon!
