Game cancellation procedures
With our first real storm of the season upon us, some of you may be wondering what happens if you have a game or practice.

If it looks like weather could be an issue (for either a home or away game) then a couple of days in advance a dialogue is started with both teams' coaches, schedulers and the refs. A decision is made about 5-6 hours before game time or the night before an early morning game, based upon the available forecast and travel distance.  If the weather is really bad then the arenas may close, but this doesn't happen often, and usually only if City buses stop running.

Once a game has been cancelled then the team's calendar on the GGHA website is updated, refs are notified, and coaches/managers will communicate with their team.

Attempts are made to set a new date as soon as possible, but this may take a few days, and the new game date might be weeks later. Home games change into practices, which players are expected to attend.

How to get information in a timely manner:
Subscribe to the calendar feature on the GGHA website (sign button in the lower right-hand of the home page).
Make sure your coach/ manager has up-to-date contact for all parents (email and cell).
Subscribe to any team group chat/ app.
Follow the social media feeds for the City of Guelph and University of Guelph (if applicable).
