Midget AA - Silver at North Halton Rush
Season Opening Silver for Midget AA  The GGHA Midget AA girls opened their tournament season with the North Halton Rush on the first weekend of September in Brampton and Milton.

The tournament started with a full healthy roster for only the second time with an opening win against Stratford 3-0.  Moving on in the early evening the Jr Gryphons came away with a bold 5-2 win over Belmont.  Saturday evening put the Jr Gryphons in tough with a team from Florida Alliance.  A tight game with some missed opportunities handed the Gryphons their first loss 2-1.  Final seeding game had Guelph matched with Vaughn and the Gryphons skated away with an 8-1 win.  Sunday morning in the semi final another close game vs North Halton showed the fight of the team as they managed a 2-1 victory and a spot in the gold medal game and a chance for redemption against Florida.  Sunday afternoon produced a high intensity back and forth game.  Up 2-1 with 2 minutes to play Florida tied it up and sent the game into overtime.  Using  3v3 format and Guelph controlling most of the play early, Florida turned the table and with 1:01 left in OT put the game away.  Going 4-2 in their return to AA hockey was a great start for the Jr Gryphons and earned them a well-deserved silver.  This hard working team look forward to a successful season and many more successes.
