Guelph Jr. Gryphons Secure 1-0 Victory Over Grand River Mustangs in U18 Championship Game

The Guelph Jr. Gryphons U18-1 team captured a thrilling 1-0 victory over the Grand River Mustangs, clinching the championship with a stellar performance! The game, which saw the Gryphons outshoot their opponents 20-8, showcased solid defense, excellent goaltending, and a crucial power-play goal that secured the win.

From the opening buzzer, it was clear the Gryphons had come prepared to battle. The team was rewarded for their hard work early on, as Anna Court found the back of the net on a power play in the first period. The goal, assisted by Maddie Rossit and Brooklyn Reitkirk, gave Guelph a lead they would never relinquish.

But it wasn't just the offense that shone. Goaltender Evalyn MacKinnon was outstanding, turning away every shot she faced, including several key saves when the Mustangs did break through. MacKinnon's performance in the net earned her a well-deserved shutout and was the perfect way for her to cap off her U18 career with the Gryphons.

Congratulations to the team on a fantastic season and a well-deserved championship victory!
