City Of Guelph - Youth Subsidy at Sleeman Centre
This petition requests that Guelph City Council retain the existing youth subsidy at the Sleeman Centre. We ask Council, within its authority, to ensure continued financial support for youth access to ice and programming. The proposed removal of youth subsidies at the Sleeman Centre will directly impact families in the Guelph Girls Hockey Association. These subsidies help keep hockey accessible, and without them, fees will rise—making it harder for many girls to participate. Hockey already comes with significant costs. Even small increases can force families to make difficult decisions, potentially keeping kids off the ice. This change risks reducing participation, limiting opportunities, and weakening the inclusive community we’ve worked hard to build.
