On March 21st, the University of Guelph and Department of Athletics unveiled a brand evolution for Gryphon Athletics and affiliated Jr. Gryphon organizations, including a new Gryphons logo. This brand evolution will directly impact the GGHA, as we will begin to transition to align with the new branding in the upcoming 2025-2026 season.

We are thrilled to announce and congratulate Caroline Ross and Joe Zinger on being named Coach of the Year for the 2024–2025 season! Caroline led the U13BB team with dedication and heart, while Joe guided both the U15-1 and U15 DS teams with passion and purpose. Their commitment to our athletes and to fostering a positive, competitive environment truly embodies what it means to be a Gryphon. The U11A Guelph Jr. Gryphons delivered an electrifying performance at the 45th annual Orangeville Sweetheart Tournament, clinching the Bronze medal in a nail-biting shootout that kept spectators on the edge of their seats and laptops from home!

The U13A Guelph Jr. Gryphons capped off a stellar tournament performance by securing the bronze medal in a hard fought 3-1 victory over their rivals from Kitchener.

Mike Johnston

Mike is excited and looking forward to the upcoming season with the Peewee B team. He has been a coach in both girls and boys Rep Hockey for 23 years and played Rep hockey with the Chinguacousy minor hockey association (CMHA). This experience and other educational opportunities have provided Mike with many ideas on how to develop and grow this year’s Peewee B team.

Mike’s coaching philosophy revolves around three things a player must develop to be successful: game sense, attitude and skills. His theme as a coach is to teach the girls to never stop learning and to show them the importance of giving 110% in whatever they do, both on and off the ice. Mike works hard to create a safe environment that is positive and respectful to the female athletes through encouragement, teaching and fair discipline when needed. Open communication between parents, coaches and players will create success for the team.
